TOEFL

History Toefl : Toefl is a abbreviation from test of English as foreign language . Toefl is a les beside it, Toefl has function to know so far someone have skill in English. Toefl start from a project of foreign , Usually to use so far that government employee and university student have skill of language since 1960. Toefl test was managed by educational testing service ( ETS ) ,a standart organization of international test. Toefl test are reading, writing, listening and speaking .The principle of the toefl test is only a paper test and computer test. But since 2005,The principle of the test change to become the internet principle. That internet principle can change 2 of the test in the past. Time to use to do the toefl test around 2 hour or 150 minutes to paper and pencil based toefl and around 4 hour to computer based toefl . time to computer based toefl is a long duration because there is procedure tutorial in there.

Kind of Toefl : like on Barron’s show “how to prepare fore the toefl, there is 3 kinds of toefl. General program and available are paper and pencil toefl, computer based toefl and institutional toefl, paper and pencil toefl and computer base toefl often in official administration category, usually there is every month in a regular with a schedule. Beside it, institutional toefl has a prerequisite at acceptance university student new S2 or S3 program, acceptance employee new, placement of employee promotion and etc.

Beside it, kinds of toefl often we hear are international toefl, institutional toefl and toefl like test. International test is a test for their who want to study abroad, from example to choose S2 program. Institutional toefl will be held be some university, usually country university, toefl test like test has a local characteristic and usually the allocation to self area.

Some type exercise for reading comprehension are:

1. Usually ideal if you answer some question from the text of some paragraph, we must understanding the text and also the question, if we are understanding, we’ll more easy to answer every question we can start from read the text and then exercise and multiple choice.

2. For some one who can’t understand or just understand some word in the text, we must start with read the question.

3. For the question with main idea, we can get the answer from the first and the last sentence.

4. For unstates question with the characteristic are the word not stated, not mentioned and except if the question is not declaration. Search the answer from the multiple choice, if you see, give mark on your paragraph. And if you can not see on your paragraph, actually that answer is right.

5. For the question with pronoun for example, the pronoun “they” in the line…. Refers to? “for search that answer, look the sentence before from line to show “they”.

1. Make a statement or opinions : do this regularly, and give yourself a 1-minute limit. Think about your favorite place place to visit ,favorite food to eat, or most memorable moment.

2. Read, write, then speak : take any short article, read it, and then make an outline. Be sure to keep the notes short and concise. After your outline is created, use the information as a guideline to orally summarize what the article was about in as much detail as possible .This will strengthen your speaking skills.

3. Listen and red materials on the same topic : use newspaper and magazine articles and video clips. Take notes on each materials, create outlines,and then orally summarize them both.compare and contrast the materials and then state an opinion out loud.

4. Record yourself or have someone record you

Use your computer,or have a friend make a video of you. Use this chek list to find your strengths weaknesses :

5. Ask a friend or teacher for their commenst : By tracking your progress, you’ll know what your strengths and weaknesses are. If you complete the task , use words correctly, communicate clearly, and organize efficiently,you will do do great !
